The Science Museum of Western Virginia is bringing Apollo 14 Astronaut Edgar Mitchell, one of only eight moonwalkers still living,  to Roanoke and Blacksburg on September 20th and 21st.

Mitchell will deliver public presentations at Blacksburg's Lyric Theatre, Virginia Tech and the Science Museum, and headline a special event fundraiser for the Science Museum.

As part of Mitchell's visit, the Science Museum will have on display two exhibits on loan from NASA: a Moon rock September 10th to November 9,  and a disk of lunar dust September 16th to the 23rd.

On February 5, 1971, Navy Capt. Edgar Mitchell became the sixth of only 12 men to step on the Moon. Of that elite dozen, which included Buzz Aldrin and the late Neil Armstrong, only eight now survive.
