The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says an online prostitution investigation led to the discovery of two underage girls in an underground sex ring.
Montgomery County investigators first became aware of the situation during an online investigation into the culture of sex trafficking on August 22.
Investigators found one of the girls in the Collinsville area of Henry County.
The second girl was found the next day in Christiansburg.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's office tells us the girls are 16 and 17-years-old. Both are from Montgomery County.
Captain R.B. New says the case was part of efforts beginning last month with the online investigation into prostitution and the meth trade in the New River Valley. "The recovery of these juveniles from a life of exploitation is one more step forward in our efforts to curb this threat in our community," said New.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office forwarded the case to the FBI for further investigation and possible charges for the adults involved.
