She's the Cave Spring cheerleader with the biggest smile on her face, and she's cheering for good reason.

This is senior Kendall Bayne's first time back in her cheerleading uniform in two years. She say's team spirit is just what she needed.

"This is the first time that I have felt normal in two years so I just feel like a kid again and get a little break so it's nice," Bayne said.

Until now, she was too weak to be on the squad but if you were at the game you could see that was the farthest thing from her mind during Friday's big game against William Byrd.

Event the opposing team was cheering her on, sporting a giant "Team Kendall" sign on the home stands. She's gotten a lot of attention, and a lot of support, but still she remains humble, just happy to be there.

"I just really appreciate all of the support everyone has been really great to us," Bayne said.

Her biggest fans, mom and dad were proudly watching from the crowd as for the first time in years their daughter got to enjoy just being a kid.

"She's had to grow up too soon," Jere Bayne, her dad said.

"And to see her be a kid again, out with her friends, it's an incredible journey she has had. She's got a long way to bog, but she is doing great and we couldn't be happier for her to see her out with her friends just being a kid again, enjoying her senior year."

On her parents wrists are "Team Kendall" bands. On the back they say "Fight like a Knight."

It's a slogan her school mates came up with. Kendall is still fighting. She has an eight week break from chemo treatments. Until then, she's doing her favorite thing, cheering on her team.

"I'm putting caner in the back of my head so it's good," Bayne said.

And after the season's over, she has big plans for the future. Inspired by her own experience she says she plans on going to college and studying to be a pediatric doctor and help out other sick children win their battle with cancer. She's a true cheerleader at heart.
