The Director of the FBI will officially step down today. Robert Mueller served 12 years as director. Former deputy attorney general James Comey will take over.
Montgomery County Public Schools start today. The 21st century classroom has expanded to all but two of the schools and students will have the latest technology at their fingertips. The new Auburn High School and Blacksburg High School will also open their doors to students for the first time.
Gubernatorial Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe will visit Roanoke and Lynchburg as part of a series of events discussing his educational plan. McAuliffe will visit Green Valley Elementary School in Roanoke County at 11:30 a.m. He will then have a roundtable discussion at the Lynchburg Public Library at 2:45 p.m.
VDOT will begin work today on a portion of Bent Mountain Road in Roanoke County. Beginning at 8:30 a.m. traffic will be re-directed to new lanes and bridges over Back Creek. The project is expected to wrap up this fall.

Rainbow Forest Baptist Church in Botetourt County is teaming up with Straight Street to screen a documentary on human trafficking tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the church. The goal is to raise awareness and help victims in the Roanoke Valley.
