Wake Forest police charged a 26-year-old Raleigh man Saturday in connection with alleged child sex crimes committed via computer.

Police said Matthew Lincoln Hassell, of Weybridge Drive in Raleigh, was charged with solicitation of a child by computer to commit an unlawful sex act.

Hassell communicated with a child under the age of 16 through the internet and solicited sexual favors during the investigation, authorities said.

Hassell is being held in the Wake County Jail on $15,000 bond.

His first court appearance is scheduled for the morning of Sept. 9.
