CHRISTIANSBURG, VA -

The MOMS Club of Christiansburg is hosting the "Lily's Playground 5K Fun Run/Walk to build a play area in the New River Valley Mall in honor of three-year old Lily Robertson.

Robertson was diagnosed with Metachromatic Leukodystropy in July 2012.

MLD is a painful and eventually terminal genetic disease.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 21st.

The run begins at 9:30 a.m. on the Huckleberry Trail behind the Regal New River Valley Stadium 14.

So far the area has raised $18,845.

$78,750 is needed to build the play area.
