A making a difference update - back in July a Roanoke County firefighter and police officer helped save lives while on vacation.
Tuesday, the two were recognized by the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors for their efforts.
Eric Austin and Barry Brown were vacationing in North Carolina when a woman and her son were caught in the rip current.
The two jumped in to save them without even thinking of their own safety.
The Board of Supervisors called them up to the podium to give their account of that day.
One of the board members pointed out Eric and Barry exemplify the goal of getting first responders and police officers to work together.
