Glenvar Grad Runs With NASCAR's Top Series

Posted: Updated:

Nascar's pre-chase visit to Roanoke had a local flavor beyond the Martinsville ties. Glenvar and Virginia Tech product Chad Willis runs the "at track marketing" for Nascar's title sponsor..Sprint. His job is to handle all the marketing of Sprint at each stop on the Sprint Cup Tour. It means a lot of travel, and a lot of resources used to make sure people understand what Sprint does, and how it interacts with the fans of the sport.

Among Willis' duties--coordinating the "Miss Sprint Cup" appearances at the site of each race track- making his position one of the most sought after in all of sports. Willis calls this portion of his job the most dynamic, and says the three professional women who share the title "Miss Sprint Cup" are all capable and crucial to getting Sprint's message out there--from appearances to other social media and more.  Jaclyn Roney accompanied Willis to Roanoke and says despite his crazy schedule he is always there to help with the important things that come up.

This week--it's a special homecoming week for Willis, where his hometown roots and his labor of love converge--all in the name of racing.  Willis says Martinsville is his favorite track and he's always excited to come home and spend time with friends and family in addition to doing his job. He called Martinsville..and the track Clay Campbell has worked tirelessly to keep current--as the best in the business.
