CHRISTIANSBURG -

The NRV Free Clinic is having a free Adult Dental Care Day today.

It will begin at 8:00 a.m..

Patients on the clinic's waiting list will be seen in more than a dozen dental offices across the New River Valley. Nearly 30 dentists and their support staff will do a number of procedures including cleanings and root canals, said organizer Joe Thompson. It's a joint volunteer project of the Free Clinic, the New River Valley Dental Study Club and the Dental Aid Partners of the New River Valley.

This is the second year of the dental day. Last year, 235 patients throughout the New River Valley were provided free dental care by 29 dentists, 29 dental assistants, 24 hygienists, and 18 dental office managers. The cost was valued at more than $194,000.

The Free Clinic of the New River Valley is located at 215 Roanoke Street in Christiansburg.
