KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) -

News Channel 11 has learned that one of the three victims who was rescued, by Good Samaritans, out of a fiery crash this weekend has died.

Walter Bellamy, the driver of the SUV, died early Tuesday morning as a result of injuries he sustained in the crash, according to Tom Patton with the Kingsport Police Department.

A total of two people died as a result of a fiery crash on Fort Henry Drive, near South Street.

Police have not release the identity of the woman who died in the crash Saturday night.

Police told News Channel 11 she was driving 104 miles per hour when her car crossed over the center turn lane and crashed head-on with a Ford SUV.

Bellamy, 58, was one of three people rescued from the fire Saturday night. Police credit the quick actions of several Good Samaritans who put their safety on the line, during the harrowing rescue.

Witnesses at the scene helped pull Walter, Angela Bellamy, 51, and Colton Belamy, 20,  from the SUV. As of Monday evening, Angela and Colton Bellamy remain in critical condition at the Valley Medical Center.

News Channel 11 looked into the brave acts of two heroes, Justin Addington - who was volunteering at Goodwill the following day - and Melvin Platt, who rushed to the aid of complete strangers.

The Kingsport Police Department says a two-door passenger car headed north on Fort Henry Drive going 104 miles per hour crossed over the center turn lane near South Street, entered the inside lane, and crashed head-on into a Ford SUV driving toward Colonial Heights.

The two vehicles burst into flames.

Officers said Justin K. Addington, Chris G. Faber, R. L. Williams, Brian K. Woliver, and Joe F. Erwin all braved the fire to help pull the three people, two men and one woman, out of the SUV. Sunday evening, we also spoke with Melvin Platt. Platt told us he and several others also assisted in the rescue efforts.

"It's not something you see every day that two cars just explode," said Justin Addington.

Addington says he heard what had happened when he had to stop at a nearby gas station. "I just put my car in park and took off running that way, " he said.

When he got to the scene, he says he saw the people in the fiery SUV, "There was a guy in the Marine Corps, and I was in the Army, and we both just ran through it and decided to get them out."

Melvin Pratt, told News Channel 11 Sunday, he rushed over the accident too. "I found a backseat passenger halfway out of the vehicle. I dragged him to safety."

In all the chaos, Pratt says he saw a group of people come together to help save lives. "There were multiple people [Good Samaritans] there."

After everyone made sure the front seat passenger and the backseat passenger were safe, Addington says he went back for the driver. "I went up to the car and went up to the window and grabbed his hand and pulled him out through the window."

Addington showed News Channel 11 his sweater with burn marks. The fire singed his arm hair. He says he has no second thoughts. His military training drove him to help. "If there's a fire, there's an explosion, you never leave anybody behind. And it was just like a reflex to run towards it instead of away from it."

The other driver died in her car that night – lost in the flames – it was too late to save her from.

It's also something that weighs on Addington's mind. "It's been bothering me since [Saturday] night. There was no way we could get there."

But if you ask him, he would run into a fire all over again. "I think it was just the right thing to do," said Addington.
