Batting for Brooklyn raises thousands for families of sick kids

Posted: Updated:

A weekend softball tournament raises thousands of dollars for families with sick kids at UVa hospital.

"Batting for Brooklyn" brought in $15,000 in honor of Brooklyn Graves, a 7-month-old baby who passed away in January from a rare condition.

Brooklyn's parents set a goal to raise money at least $5,000 for families, just like them, spending day after day in the NICU at UVa hospital.  The good news is supporters surpassed that.

Two social workers at the UVa hospital will have access to the money and give it to families to spend on whatever they need - whether it's gas money or place to stay.
