Blacksburg's "Celebrate Sustainability" kicks off today

Posted: Updated:
BLACKSBURG, VA -

Virginia Tech and the Town of Blacksburg are celebrating the local community's efforts to advance sustainability.

"Celebrate Sustainability" is a three day event that kicks off this morning. The event will highlight the progress the university and the town have made over the past year. It will also focus on the region's potential for sustainable growth in the future.

The event is a collaboration between the university, the town of Blacksburg, and a local citizens group known as Sustainable Blacksburg.

The three partnered up seven years ago to get people in the area excited about making sustainable choices.

This year there are over ten events planned as a part of the celebration.

If you would like to see a list of all the events that will be taking place this week, visithttp://www.facilities.vt.edu/sustainability/2013/sust_week2013.asp.
