Roanoke County Board of Supervisors recognizes first responders and police officer

Posted: Updated:

Earlier this month we told you about two first responders and a police officer who saved two people inside a burning apartment in Roanoke County before fire crews even got to the scene.

Tuesday, the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors called the two young men and a Roanoke County Police Officer up to the podium and recognized them for pulling double duty.

Paramedic Ethan Dressler and EMT in training, Hunter Mood, explained to the board they're both fire fighters as well.

When they were working on the ambulance earlier this month they actually arrived at an apartment fire at The Villages at Garst Creek before the fire fighters.

Instead of waiting on the truck the two went inside to get the victims themselves.

Helping Hunter and Ethan pull people from the burning apartment was Roanoke County Officer, Cara Jacobs.

"Nothing went through my head I just went in and did what I had to do to make sure everybody went home safe that night," Cara explained.

"It's nice to know that it goes higher up and the things we do on a day-to-day basis does make it up to the higher-ups that really care and watch out for the county," Hunter said.

This is the second time this month the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors has recognized first responders and police officers for saving lives.
