ROANOKE, VA -

A live album made in Roanoke is soaring on iTunes.

Jazz group "Snarky Puppy" recorded its latest project called "Family Dinner Volume 1" during a special performance at the Jefferson Center back in March.

The album was recently released on iTunes and hit number one Wednesday on the iTunes jazz charts in both the U.S. and the U.K.

A portion of the proceeds from sales of the album benefit the Music Lab at the Jefferson Center.

Executive Director Cyrus Pace says it was fantastic working with Snarky Puppy, which has built a strong relationship with the Roanoke area over the past six or seven years.  He adds that the album also lets people know about the rich and emerging music scene here in the Star City.

"That's really something to celebrate," said Pace.  "Particularly if you think about projects like "Family Dinner" which then go on to be internationally heralded as the most important thing happening.  It's a very, very cool thing to be a part of."

"Family Dinner Volume 1" is available on iTunes or by visiting the following the website: http://snarkypuppy.ropeadope.com/album/family-dinner-volume-1

Snarky Puppy will return to the Jefferson Center on January 31, 2014.
