Roanoke City girl scouts use power tools to give back

Posted: Updated:

Local Girl Scouts use as service project as a way to learn how to use power tools.

The Roanoke City based troop spent the summer building wooden book shelves to give to the Roanoke Rescue Mission's Women's Shelter.

Wednesday, Troop 1180 delivered the finished product and put the shelves together in the children's reading room.

"It's just thinking that the people will enjoy it and your just doing this for a good cause.  It's a good feeling," explained 5th grader, Hannah Sparrow.

The girls built a total of five shelves along with collecting books to stock them.
