Adjusted bills are in the mail to Anthem patients who received high bills from Med-Trans for Lifeguard transport

Adjusted bills are in the mail to Anthem patients who received high bills from Med-Trans for Lifeguard transport.

Med-Trans operates Lifeguard services for Carilion Clinic.

Carilion Clinic Representative, Eric Earnhart tells WSLS that new bills that have been adjusted and changed to an in-network charge for Anthem patients are in the mail.

He says, "They are sending them out in batches, so patients will be receiving them over the next several weeks."

The official contract between Anthem and Med-Trans has not been signed yet but the deal is expected to be finalized soon.

Both Anthem and Med-Trans reached a deal more than a week ago that would mean Lifeguard Helicopter transports are now in-network expenses for Anthem patients.

Anthem is Virginia's largest health insurance carrier.

Several Anthem patients had received extremely high bills for the helicopter transport service.

Anthem patients who were not covered as in-network and needed emergency transport on Lifeguard can call 1-866-261-3032 to have that bill reviewed.
