We Dogwood Restaurant in Vinton for this week's Taste of Your Town as part of our game of the week featuring William Byrd and William Fleming.
Keith Poff has owned Dogwood for nearly twenty years. Everything on the ever changing menu is homemade.
Keith says, "Some people will come in three times a day for breakfast, lunch and dinner and like the sign says come as you are."
Ed and Maria Burke like the breakfast and lunch items.
Ed explains, "This restaurant is for people that love to come in and you don't have to dress up. You come as you are."
School spirit in all over the place. Keith started with a UVA and Virginia Tech flag. Over the years customers have given him others to showcase. Four new one will go up this weekend.
Brian Beverage makes Dogwood part of his daily routine.
Brian says, "You have to support small local businesses or they are not going to be there."
We tried the Caroline Special which is turkey, monterey jack cheese, bacon, slaw, and honey mustard on a pretzel bun.
Homemade chips come with the sandwiches and the menu is written in chalk because it changes regularly depending on the day of the week.
Customers we talked to say, it's all good.
Dogwood has been around since 1948 and is located on East Lee Street in Vinton.
