The Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine is considered one of the most affordable vet colleges in the country.
It took the third spot for its tuition costs and living expenses. The school is located on Virginia Tech's campus and the school's representatives say its costs and reputation are both reasons for why they have a high applicant pool.
More than 12,000 people applied last year to the college and more are expected to apply next year.
"We have a great faculty to student ratio," says Dr. Jacqueline Pelzer, director of admissions and student services. "The clinicians in our hospital are actually our faculty members that teach our students so they have access to the most current information out there for veterinary medicine."
