BEAUFORT, N.C. -

A Carteret County grandmother is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor after her 13-year-old granddaughter took the pot to school.

Deputies said Robin Carson's 13-year-old granddaughter took marijuana to Beaufort Middle School.

The school system said students alerted the principal as soon as they got off the bus at school. Appropriate discipline has been taken against the girl, according to a district spokeswoman.

The marijuana belonged to Carson, deputies said.

The 52-year-old woman's bond was set at $3,000.
