This weekend marks the Roanoke County Parks and Recreation's 12th annual Medieval Festival.
It kicked off at Green Hill Park in Salem on Saturday morning, transforming the park into a huge display of history. The event includes merchants, crafts, food and even some musicians.
"It's an exceptional opportunity for the public to come out and relive history," says event organizer, Wendi Schultz. "You can come out and walk around and its as if you're in the middle ages during the medieval times. We have wonderful vendors and fabulous performers. They actually take on the character of medieval life."
The event continues tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It's free for anyone dressed up in garb.
