RALEIGH, N.C. -

Advocates for victims of domestic violence have scheduled a special event to recognize those who have been affected.

The Wake County Domestic Violence Task Force has scheduled a candlelight vigil in downtown Raleigh in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness month and all victims.

Tuesday night's event is intended to raise community awareness about the issue of domestic violence, the local services available to support domestic violence victims and their families, and programs aimed at ending domestic violence.

Among the people scheduled to speak is State Sen. Tamara Barringer of Wake County, and Barry Bryant of the Wake County Domestic Violence Task Force.
