Healthcare registration site suffers big glitches

Posted: Updated:

While the government was officially shutting down at midnight, the new Affordable Care Act- more commonly known as Obamacare, was just getting started.

The first day of healthcare signups got off to a rough start. The healthcare.gov website suffered quite a few technical glitches this morning before being temporarily shut down altogether.

Some people were able to fill out a few portions on the site before coming to a complete stop, while others were never able to begin registering at all.

"We haven't even been able to create an account," says Robin Davis, the outreach coordinator for New Horizons Healthcare in Roanoke. "We haven't looked at the new site at all. I'm sure that is an issue for a lot of people."

And millions of people signing up are what may have led to some of the glitches.
