Parade of historic homes to showcase Roanoke renovations

ROANOKE, VA -

People in one Roanoke neighborhood will showcase some of its transformation as work to revitalize the Mountain View area continues.

Last year Mountain View was named a target area for community development and received money through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Since then, public and private money has been used to renovate historic properties. This weekend, you'll be able to see the progress in a neighborhood tour. "There's going to be single family residential as well as multi family. There's going to be homes in the historic preservation district, there's also going to be homes on Chapman and Campbell," said Valeria Alphin, Mountain View Neighborhood Association President.

Nearly a dozen homes and properties-- including the Mountain View Center and West End United Methodist Church-- will be part of the Parade of Historic renovated Homes Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.. Some are up for sale. You can find a map of participating homes at the center or Church during the free event.
