Two high school rivals play football for Alexis Murphy

LYNCHBURG, VA -

Hundreds of people are in Lynchburg today for a charity football game benefiting the Alexis Murphy family.

Alexis' mom, Laura, and Alexis' aunt, Trina, are also there.

They're all watching alumni from rival high schools E. C. Glass and Heritage go head to head in a flag football game.

The football game is the brainchild of the S.H.O.P.O. Foundation, which stands for "Self-Help Obtains-Positive-Opportunity.

It's founded by Lynchburg native B. B. Shapers, who also attended E. C. Glass.

A spokesperson from the S.H.O.P.O Foundation said they wanted to continue raising awareness about the Murphy case and help the Murphy family with financial assistance.
