Hokies Looking to Avenge Last Year's Pitt Defeat

Posted: Updated:

This game--and in some respects this season is about washing away some of the pain of 2012.  The Hokies 27-17 win over North Carolina on Saturday was a payback game for last year's failed trip to Chapel Hill.  The upcoming Pittsburgh game is the same deal.   The Hokies went to Pitt ranked 13th in the country and promptly got flattened by the Panthers at Heinz field last season.  Pittsburgh rolled 35-17 in a game that still bothers the Hokies players, fans and coaches alike.

Logan Thomas admits both North Carolina..and now-- Pitt..are revenge games. Linebacker Tarik Edwards says watching the film of Pittsburgh running all over the Hokies defense when that's what Virginia Tech prides itself in--stopping the run--was tough to look at. The main theme of the Virginia Tech press conference was the fact that Pitt has had the Hokies number as of late--they have defeated Virginia Tech four straight times. And just how physical the Panthers are--that is the one thing the players interviewed remembered most about the trip to Pennsylvania last year.
