Kids all across our area have been back to school for more than a month now. As the newness of this school year wears off, students at Auburn High School are still getting used to their new surroundings.
"You've known where the teachers are for the past three or four years and now it's changed. Everything's different," says senior, Sydney Fain. "Several generations of families have come through the old school and now we're sort of starting on our own at this point."
Principal Carl Pauli says the new school is more than just a pretty building, the $40 million project also has a lot of special features. The school has 22 classrooms, 21 labs and an auditorium that seats more tan 600 people.
This afternoon that auditorium was full of people from the community who came to celebrate the new school.
"It's just been an amazing experience," says Pauli. "It's been some work getting it set up and getting it ready for the students to come. But everybody loves it. I've heard nothing but good things."
A new and highly functional environment that makes it easy for students at Auburn High School to learn.
