ROANOKE, VA -

A day of music to benefit a local drummer is planned for Sunday.

The inaugural For the Love of Todd benefit at Schooners in Roanoke is this weekend. 22 regional bands will be perform throughout the day and night to raise money for Todd Cooper. He's a former drummer for local band The Worx. Friends say Cooper has a heart condition and is in need of a transplant.

Cooper hasn't been able to get out much but friends say he will make an appearance at the benefit. "He's been adamant that he wanted to make sure that he was here for this for the reason that there has been just an enormous out pour of support, a lot of his closest and personal friends will be here as a part of it," said benefit organizer Eric Larsen.

The For the Love of Todd benefit is Sunday from noon to midnight. It's $10 to get in. Kids 12 and under are free.
