Candle manufacturer Korona SA and plastic packaging company Phoenix are all examples of businesses taking advantage of the county designated as an enterprise zone.
The county uses it to attract companies and now a neighbor is hoping to reap the benefits too.
"We would love to see new businesses come to the city and we're always looking for new jobs for our citizens for the region as a whole," says Jenni Wilder, city of Radford.
Radford and Pulaski County applied for the distinction together and were only four chosen in the state.
Radford applied for the distinction before but didn't receive it until applying with Pulaski County.
Businesses can get up to $200-thousand and $800 for every position for five years.
"Hopefully it'll be enough money to want people to choose Pulaski County or the city of Radford to do business," says Robert Hiss, Pulaski County assistant county administrator.
A couple once believed to be missing are now suspects in connection with a string of burglaries. Joshua Bolt is still at large and is believed to be armed and dangerous.
