Freedom First Spooky Sprint 5k is one week away

Posted: Updated:

We are one week away from the Freedom First Spooky Sprint 5k to benefit the nutrition program at West End Center in Roanoke.

"The Spooky Sprint is a great way to show our youth that exercise is fun and can be an integral part of life," said West End Center Director Joy Parrish.  "Though they may not realize it, the runners and walkers who participate are all role models for our children."

The new route this year, along the Roanoke River Greenway, will end within walking distance of the after-race party at Wasena Tap Room.  Race participants will receive a 25% discount.

In addition to support from Freedom First, the race is also sponsored by Carilion Clinic and Wasena Tap Room.

All family members are encouraged to attend including the four legged kind.

WSLS 10 is honored to be a sponsor and Karen McNew serves on the group's board.
