Galax RB Topples VHSL Record, Earns Week 8 Honors

Posted: Updated:

Galax Senior running back Steven Peoples was having a pretty darn good year before Week eight of the VHSL season. He had already tallied 1030 yards and 13 scores through week seven.   The Maroon Tide star was averaging 206 yards per game.

And then came Saturday--at Graham. We await official word that his 503 yards rushing are verified as a VHSL single game record.  Peoples scored 6 touchdowns rushing on runs of 71 22 80, 80 45 and 27 in Galax's 54-7 shellacking of the G-Men.  He rambles for  503 on just 22 carries.

But that's not all--Peoples scored on a 78 yard fumble return in the 4th quarter for touchdown number 7. He also added an interception and a quarterback sack in the win.  For what amounts to a half season's work in one Saturday afternoon, Steven Peoples of Galax is your Stop-In, 1st and 10 Player of the Week.
