Roanoke City to Hold Peters Creek Flooding Meeting

Posted: Updated:

The City of Roanoke will hold a meeting tonight about Peters Creek flooding.

The presentation will specifically target residents located on Meadowbrook Road.

The meeting is at 7pm and will take place at Roanoke Fire station Number 13.

After severe flooding in July, the city is taking action to help homeowners in that area.

Tonight's meeting will update residents about what's being done.

City Engineer, Phil Schirmer, says, "There is a role for city government to play in this and we want to make sure we do whatever we can to assist those residents."

The city has already applied for FEMA grants. Schirmer says it could take six months until the city will know if it will receive money.

Also, the city is currently in the process of planning a debris cleaning along the major channel of Peters Creek. That's expected to take place later this fall or early spring.

Anyone is welcome to attend the meeting tonight to find out more information.
