Roanoke City Police say a suspect is in custody after a lockdown at Virginia Western Community College. In a news release, they say officers went to Clinton Ave. in SE Roanoke at 10:48 a.m. There, a woman said that her husband was suffering from "possible mental issues", but was not at home. Additional information given to the police indicated that the man may have been headed to Virginia Western, and the wife said her husband was "angry at the governor", according to the release. There was also reason to believe he may have a firearm. Officers contacted Virginia Western, and put out a lookout for the man.

At 11:36, the man was taken into custody, and taken for a medical and mental evaluation. He was unarmed when police found him. The news release says no threat to staff or students at the school was found.
