NC State basketball readies for season

RALEIGH, N.C. -

N.C. State basketball practiced Thursday in front of the media, less than a week before their first game of the season.

Wolfpack fans got their first look at the revamped team Oct. 18 at Primetime with the Pack at the PNC Arena. Third-year coach Mark Gottfried's roster is loaded with young players with the only senior being Australian center Jordan Vandenberg.

Sophomore's Tyler Lewis and T.J. Warren are expected to lead the team after the Wolfpack lost four of their top contributors from last season. State's freshman class of five, ranked no. 12 in the nation by Scout.com, is lead by point guard Anthony Barber.

The practice Thursday was fast paced and physical, leaving many players with their hands on their knees between drills.

N.C. State plays UNC-Pembroke in an exhibition game on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum. The Pack starts the regular season against Morehouse on Nov. 2.
