H&M store possibly coming to Valley View Mall

Posted: Updated:
ROANOKE -

According to a building permit application and plan that was received Thursday, a new H&M may come to Valley View Mall.

It would be about 17,000 square feet and located in front of Sears. According to the plans, the H&M store would be taking over the current storefronts of FYE, Auntie Anne's, Payless Shoes, Footaction and B&C sports.

A building inspector for the city of Roanoke says the application needs to be approved before a permit is obtained and construction to start.

Construction costs for building and material is expected to be about $800,000.

B&C sports is moving to another location in the mall and tells us they're excited for H&M to be coming and hopefully bring more jobs to the area.

"I wanna assure our customers we're not gonna be going anywhere we're gonna be right here," says Bobbie Kurz, store manager at B & C sports.

It is unclear whether the other businesses will be leaving or relocating or when we will see any changes for the new store.

We reached out to the mall's spokesperson but declined to comment.

B&C Sports says they're preparing to move out sometime in the beginning of next year and says they will tell their customers where their new location will be.
