Man, woman found dead in Elizabethton home

ELIZABETHTON, TN (WJHL) -

Elizabethton police continue an investigation Monday after two people were found dead with gunshot wounds in their home over the weekend.  

Officers found the bodies of a man and a woman just before 2:00 p.m. Sunday at a home on Garden Road. They have been identified as 43-year-old Melissa Griffin and 49-year-old Michael Griffin.

Police told News Channel 11, it appears no one else was involved in the shootings. Investigators found a firearm and evidence of multiple gun shots being fired in the home.

A nearby neighbor told investigators they heard what could have been gunshots around 3:00 - 3:30 a.m.
