ELIZABETHTON, TN (WJHL) -

The discovery of two bodies inside of an Elizabethton home on Sunday afternoon, is still under investigation by Elizabethton Police.

The bodies of Melissa and Michael Griffin were found inside their home on Garden Road at about 2 pm Sunday afternoon.

Preliminary Police reports show that the shootings likely took place around 3 a-m Sunday morning.

Police say that there is evidence of multiple gunshots inside of the home, and they have recovered a handgun from the scene.

Currently, they are not looking for any outside suspects that could possibly be involved in the shooting.

According to Elizabethton Police Captain Joy Markland, "We're just trying to piece together information from the scene...statements from individuals as well as waiting on information from the pathologist with the autopsy...that can help us basically piece the puzzle together and make sure that we get a determination about what exactly happened here at the home."

Captain Markland told us that Elizabethton Police records show, that they had never been called to the Griffin's home for any type of domestic disturbance in the past.
