Mountain View Humane will perform its 20,000th surgery today.
The organization provides low cost spay and neuter services to low income families across Southwest Virginia.
The first clinic opened in Christiansburg in August of 2010. A second clinic was opened in Roanoke last July.
Since 2010, Mountain View Humane has given over $230,000 in financial aid to pet owners who could not afford services.
The City of Salem, Montgomery County, and the town of Vinton are currently offering financial help to low income individuals if surgeries are performed at Mountain View Humane.
