Booster Seat Safety

Posted: Updated:

Results are out on child booster seat safety. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says manufacturers are making better booster seats. Out of 31 new seats this year nineteen are in the institute's top rating of "Best Bet."

A few things to look for when fitting your child in a booster seat... make sure the lap belts lie flat across the upper thigh and the shoulder belt fits snugly across the center of the shoulder.

Jessica Jermakian with the Insurance Institute for Hwy Safety says, "The Institute recommends that parents keep their children in a harness-based restraint for as long as possible up to the height and weight limit of the seat." That generally means somewhere between ages of four and eight.
