Local Affordable Care Act seminar - WSLS 10 NBC in Roanoke/Lynchburg Va

Local Affordable Care Act seminar

Posted: Updated:

Just over a month ago, the Affordable Care Act website was launched. Since the site's debut, there have been a lot of technical issues-- leading to some very low registration numbers.

With official numbers set to be released by the end of this week, local navigators for the website are working to help people in our area learn how to sign up when the website is functional.

"A lot of folks are not even sure it's still a law, some think it's been repealed," says Rebecca Brown, a certified navigator for Southwest Virginia. "My goal right now, since we've had issues with the site, the main goal is to have a site to show people what their plans and savings are in real time. I'm informing people what that is going to look like."

Brown is holding a session tonight at 6:30 at the Blacksburg Library.

Here are some future seminars:

November 13 at 6 p.m.: Pulaski County Library
November 19 at 6 p.m.: Radford Public Library
November 21 at 6:30 p.m.: Shawsville Public Library
December 2 at 6 p.m.: Pearisburg Public Library
