Pedestrian hit and killed by vehicle on Franklin Rd.

ROANOKE -

UPDATE 3:00 P.M.

 

The name of the pedestrian hit and killed last night has been released.

Police say she was 63-year-old Ruth Mary Keniston from Roanoke.

According to police,  Keniston was trying to cross Franklin Road at the time she was hit.

The accident remains under investigation.

That's all of the new information police are releasing at this time

Update 9:35 p.m.

Roanoke City Police tell us a pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle on Franklin Rd.

Both southbound lanes are still closed near the Townside Festival shopping center.

No further information is being released at this time.

Roanoke City Police tell us they are investigating a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle on Franklin Rd.

Police say both southbound lanes are closed near the Townside Festival shopping center.

Police are directing traffic, and drivers are being asked to make a u-turn and head back towards Downtown Roanoke on Franklin Rd.

They say Franklin will likely be closed for quite some time.
