BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) - Jarell Eddie scored 21 points to lead Virginia Tech past Virginia Military Institute 105-92 on Monday.

The Hokies (3-1) hit a season-high 11 3-pointers. Eddie tied his career high with five and shot 7 of 12 from the floor overall. He also made both of his free-throw attempts and grabbed six rebounds.

Freshman guard Ben Emelogu added 19 points off the bench for the Hokies, and C.J. Barksdale, who was suspended for the first three games of this season by Virginia Tech coach James Johnson for a violation of team rules, scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds in his season debut.

Virginia Tech led by as many as 20 in the second half. VMI cut the lead to 98-92 on two free throws by QJ Peterson with 1:18 left, but the Hokies scored the game's final seven points.

Barksdale scored on a lay-up with 1:10 left, and after a missed 3-pointer by Peterson, Adam Smith hit a free throw to give the Hokies a 101-92 lead. Trey Chapman then missed a 3-pointer, and Barksdale broke free for a dunk to give the Hokies a 103-92 lead with 39 seconds left.

The Hokies' Will Johnston made two free throws with 31 seconds left to account for the final margin. Every player who dressed for the Hokies scored.

Rodney Glasgow and Peterson led VMI (2-2) with 22 points each. D.J. Covington added 20 points and five rebounds for the Keydets, who were outrebounded 52-31.
