PULASKI COUNTY, VA -

Heartbreaking news for hundreds of families in the New River Valley.

According to both the Wall Street Journal and Reuters, Caterpillar Inc. plans to close its Pulaski County plant by the middle of 2014.

The plant makes coal haulers and other equipment, and employees about 240 people.

The move follows the announcement of a plant closure in Beckley, West Virginia, earlier this year.
