BEDFORD COUNTY, VA -

The wet weather on Tuesday, led to a crash involving a Bedford County deputy.

According to State Police Sergeant Robert Carpentieri, of State Police's Salem division, the crash took place around 6:40 p.m. on Route 460, about one-tenth of a mile east of Route 908.

The investigating trooper found Deputy Joseph Reiner, of Lynchburg, was driving a 2009 Ford Crown Victoria police cruiser west on Rt. 460, and hydroplaned on the wet road.  The car then ran off the right side of Route 460, went down an embankment, and hit several trees.
