Roanoke, Danville putting up holiday decorations

Posted: Updated:
ROANOKE, VA -

Downtown Roanoke is going green with wreaths and garland today.

It's part of the greening of the market as volunteers put up the city's holiday decorations.

It begins this morning at 8.

Meanwhile in Danville the decorations return this year. Crews are hanging snowflake lights and swags. As you may remember last year city workers couldn't hang holiday decorations because of construction on the Streetscape project.

Now there are red holiday banners and candy canes on the light poles on Main and Union Streets downtown.

The annual effort is aimed at making downtown streets festive as they get ready for events like the holiday market next weekend.
