WSLS tips off Lynchburg Police on missing girl case

Posted: Updated:

While investigators searched for Jamisha Gilbert along Winston Ridge Road, WSLS researched the missing teen as well.

WSLS was able to locate Jamisha's facebook page that was listed under another name, Meii Mii Monique. Until then investigators were't aware that she had a facebook page.

Lead investigator Ryan Zuidema says her page could be helpful in finding clues about her disappearance.

On her page, we learn that Jamisha is a graduate of Heritage High School in Lynchburg and ranked in the top 10% of her class.

In a youtube video that Jamisha made, she describes her life and talks about goals which include college.

"Law school, Yale university is my number 1 law school," Jamisha said in the video. "I would love to have a degree from there."

But now  that's all on hold.

She hasn't been seen since Friday night, after she spent time with some friends.

Her family who hadn't seen her since last Wednesday reported her missing on Sunday.

Police are now searching for her in Lynchburg just off of the Concord turnpike on Winston ridge road, the place where they found her families car, a burgundy 2002 honda accord wrecked .and abandoned.

Police, searching the wooded area on foot, and even the James River aren't releasing many details on why they believe her disappearance to be suspicious...but say they don't believe this is a simple runaway case.

"We are very concerned for her safety," Lt. Dave Gearheart with the Lynchburg Police Department said.

"that's why we are asking anybody who may have any information on her whereabouts or where they last saw her to please call us, even if they think it could be insignificant information just please let us know."
