Update: Roanoke shooting victim dies in hospital

10:30 p.m. Update:

Roanoke Police release more information about a deadly shooting in southeast Roanoke in the 1600 block of Queen Ann Drive, that happened around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday. The gunshot victim has now been identified as 18 year old Tratavious Davon Oliver McDuffie.

We're told he was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he later died. Officers and detectives say it appears a friend of McDuffie was handling a firearm, it discharged, with the shot hitting McDuffie.

No charges have been filed at this time.


5:40 p.m. Update:
Police say the victim is a male.

At the moment police are interviewing some people to try to get more information and say there is no threat to the neighborhood.

Police are investigating after being called to Queen Ann Drive in Southeast Roanoke for a gunshot victim. We're working to get more information, but we do know the victim was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment. The call came in around 4:45 Wednesday afternoon.
