The Volunteer High School student who was found dead on Burlington Road in Church Hill the day before Thanksgiving was intoxicated at the time of his death and may have died from hypothermia, according to police.

Church Hill Police Chief Mark Johnson confirmed the name of the student was Jimmy Turner-Cradic, 18, of Burlington Road.

Johnson decided to release preliminary autopsy findings to eliminate rumors about the man’s death and prevent “the potential of people possibly committing criminal acts based on completely false information,” according to a news release.

Johnson said rumors surrounding Cradic's death have "ran rampant" on various social media sites.

Cradic had no life-threatening external or internal injuries, indicating he was not beaten to death.

He was intoxicated at the time of his death.

Cradic may have died of hypothermia.

Additional testing must be done and the case is still pending the toxicology test and a final review.

Cradic’s body was found outside a neighbor’s house, only yards from where he lived Nov. 27.
