Give Experiences Instead of Stuff This Holiday Season

Posted: Updated:

Let's face it.. "stuff" is going to end up collecting dust in the corner of their bedroom while the memories they make from going out and doing something fun will last a lifetime. Of course, giving a gift certificate to do something isn't nearly as fun to open as a new, shiny toy so Jamie Clark is offering some suggestions of ways to give these gifts and still make it exciting for kids on Christmas morning!

1.Glazed Bisque-It Gift Certificate ~ We always go there to make gifts for others so this time it's all about my kids getting to make something for them

2.River Rock Climbing Gift Certificate ~ great way to spend a chilly winter afternoon

3.Salem Art Center or Taubman Gift Certificate for an art class ~ give this with a sketch book and colored pencils

4.Karate, gymnastics, or another class your child might be interested in ~ give this with a karate uniform or appropriate outfit

5.Weekend Getaway to Great Wolf Lodge or Massanutten Indoor Water Park ~ give this with a new bathing suit, goggles, and a towel

6.Mtn Lake Lodge or Snowflex for skiing or snowshoeing or other outdoor winter activity ~ give this with new hat and gloves

7.Tickets to a show at Roanoke Civic Center, like WWE or Harlem Globetrotters ~ give with a wrestling figure or a new basketball

8.Music classes ~ give with a small instrument or CD

9.Spa Day at someplace like Oh So Glitzy in Salem ~ give make-up or nail polish

10.Gift Certificate to the movies ~ give with a tub of popcorn
