    A water slide in Florida collapsed Thursday, injuring 13 high school students and sending five of them to hospitals. UPDATE 12/12/13:

Gregory Matthew Marlow was arraigned in Juvenile Court in Abingdon Thursday afternoon.

Marlow has hired Abingdon attorney David Scyphers to represent him in the case.

Marlow remains jailed without bond, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 6th, 2014.

     An Abingdon man,  charged with the murder of a 2 year old girl, is scheduled to appear in court today.  The Washington County, Virginia, Sheriff's Office says Gregory Matthew Marlow, 28, is charged with second degree murder.   Deputies say 2 year old Leah Dye was taken to the Washington County Fire & Rescue Squad Building  on the evening of May 21, 2012.   Deputies say the child was unresponsive and taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.  
Deputies tell News Channel 11 the two had been at an apartment on Lee Highway in Bristol.   According to court documents, the little girl died from blunt injuries. Those injuries caused her spine to break and ripped an artery causing her to bleed to death.  Those court documents also say Marlow admitted to being the sole caregiver for Leah when she was hurt.  He told investigators the injury was the result of a fall.  The medical examiner, however, says the injuries were not consistent with a fall.    

Marlow was dating the little girl's mom.   He is currently being held without bond in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon.
