Roanoke College community makes a difference for West End Center

Posted: Updated:
Roanoke College students and staff have created their own annual holiday tradition.

Back in the nineties a small group started buying Christmas presents for children who attend the West End Center.

The growing effort continues today with a new generation of givers.

Melissa Lacombe starting helping with the program as a Roanoke College student and now as the Associate Director of Financial Aide she runs the program.

“I think Roanoke for as long as I've been associated with it is very community oriented and that's not only faculty and staff, but the students as well,” Lacombe said.

“It's making a huge difference for the kids and their families,” Joy Parrish, West End Center, Executive Director.

All the presents will be given to the kids and their families this week.
